Blackberry random restart and shutdown problems
Blackberry restarting

If your phone switches off randomly and unexpectedly, you are not the only blackberry user having this kind of problem. Most of the blackberry smartphone owners have been complaining of suddenly restart issues. This will always happens when they are doing some certain  tasks on their phones like e.g when taking photos, when sending messages and chatting over BBM.

This is very common with most of the BlackBerry smartphones running os 4.6, Os 5.0, Os 6 to 7.1 E.g Curve 9320, Bold 5 9930 and 9900,Bold 2 and some BB10 smartphone like Blackberry (Z10, Z3, Q20, Q10, Z30, Q5 or Passport). The possible solution in his post will work on all blackberry phones including BB10 smartphones.

The Causes, problems And User Complains:

The main causes of this problem is still unknown. But this are the issues and symptoms most of the affected blackberry users have noticed.
  •  Phone switches off most often at low battery percentage e.g 25%
  •  Phone Restart When trying to take photos or record videos.
  •  Phone also restart when doing other simple tasks e,g when browsing, sending messages and chatting.
  •  Phone will not switch off or restart when plugged in to power source.

The Possible Solutions:

1. Try changing your battery:

A bad or damaged battery will cause a phone to restart. Changing your battery might help solve the issues, although some users still have this problem even after buying a new battery.

2. Try reloading your Os:

A software problem might be the cause of the issues. Most rebooting issues were software related and updating would be the best solution. Try wiping all user data from your phone, reload your phone software or you can also try a software upgrade.

3. Remove or change your memory card:

Try using your phone without a memory card and see if that will solve the problem. A bad or corrupted Sd card might be the reason.

4.  Try to boot into Safe Mode:

  • When the red LED (Light-Emitting Diode) goes out, press and hold the Escape key until the loading screen appears then release the Escape key.
  • When the BlackBerry smartphone boots up the Safe Mode a disclaimer message will appear, click OK to dismiss the disclaimer.

5. Try Packing The Battery With A Piece Of  Paper:

Make sure your battery is very tight, you can use a piece of tiny paper to pack up the battery before using your back cover. You should try “shimming” your battery with a piece of paper to be sure it’s tight in the case? I know, you shouldn’t have to — but if that solved it (and in some cases it has) then you know it’s the battery and not the phone.

6. Change Your Battery Terminal  (hardware problem):

If you try the above possible solutions and it fails then it is definitely a hardware problem. Changing the battery terminal will help you fix the unexpected shutdown and restarting issues. You will have to find a good and reputable phone repairer/engineer to change it for you.

Solution For BB10 Users:

If you are a BB10 smartphone users like e.g z10, q10, z30 and others. Try this:
Note: Your  your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle). And this process may take upto 4hours.
  •     With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
  •     Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
  •     Remove the battery but don’t remove the charger
  •     Wait 15 minutes
  •     Insert the battery
  •     Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to “kick start” some BBs. If it fails, please re-try, but increase the wait time in step 4 to at least 2 hours, and perhaps as long as 4-5 hours.
ORTry to remove the battery for few hours say 5-6 hours and plug it back. i.e (the battery must have been in 50-60% charge before you remove it). Once u take off the battery and put it back after 5 hours it will start from 0% and this will re-calibrate the battery and stop the problems.
